Der Aufsatz versucht, Nietzsches Einstellung zu Antike und Christenum 1) zu beschreiben, 2) in das Gesamtwerk N.'s einzuordnen. Zu 1): N. ordnet und interpretiert das Quellenmaterial so, daß sich für Antike und Christentum je zwei einander fremde Strömungen ergeben. Die eine der beiden Strömungen in der Antike, repräsentiert vor allem durch Sokrates und Platon, trägt Mitschuld an der Entwicklung, die zum Sieg des Christentums führt. Das Christentum zerfällt in eine frühe Friedensbewegung und in institutionalisiertes Ressentiment, das mit den "Jüngern", vor allem mit Paulus einsetzt. Zu 2): N. setzt sich zum positiven Ziel, das Postulat der Entwicklung des derzeitigen Menschen über sich hinaus immer wieder neu zu formulieren und Paradigmen dafür anzugeben. Zu diesen Paradigmen gehören die Vertreter frühgriechischen Denkens, die griechische Tragödie und die Rom-Idee, wie N. sie versteht. Das negative Ziel besteht darin, dasjenige, was dieser Entwicklung im Wege steht, zu entlarven, dem Übersehenwerden anheimzugeben oder Krieg dagegen zu führen. In diesem Sinne wird das Christentum als Religion gewordenes Ressentiment vor allem im Spätwerk behandelt. |
